The Hôtel du Centre is situated in Lucé, a small and tranquil town bordering Chartres. The immediate neighborhood is residential and quiet. Rue de la République, the main street of the town is within 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel and offers the traveler a truly local French experience. Along the way, there is a great boulangerie for fresh croissants, a ‘boucherie’ (butchers), a ‘tabac’ (newsagent) and a couple of tiny local bars and pizza places. Ideal for lifingc essential provisioning or when time gets away, and everybody wants to get over to have some kind of meal.

The hotel isn’t right in the heart of historic Chartres but the main reason you would come here, the incredible Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres, is only about a 20-30 minute walk, which translates to about 2 km. The walk is safe and easy, taking you from a quiet suburb to the heart of a lively center. Many guests find this a great way to ‘sneak’ into town on foot, and see the ‘real’ side of the town before emerging at that great cathedral.

In case you don’t have any vehicle, the hotel is still near the city and accessible to travel since it is near Gare de Chartres (Chartres train station). It takes approximately 20-25 minutes to reach the place by walking from the hotel premises to Gare de Chartres. This is very convenient for travelers with a little bag arriving via train. For all others like the Maison Picassiette, which is world-famous, a short drive is in order or take the bus.
